Spotlight Moody

The Moody High School Spotlight Drama Club was the first Spotlight Club.

It was founded in 2016 by a handful of dedicated students who had a passion for theatre.

2019’s student-directed production of The Wizard of Oz saw a huge increase in the number of students auditioning.  More than 50 students are now involved in the Spotlight Drama Club at MHS working in performance roles and learning the technical aspectsof theatre such as costume design, set design, lighting design, and stage management. In 2020, Spotlight Moody gained a new Sponsor, Lara Meeks, who taught English and Theatre at Gardendale and Hewitt-Trussville before making Moody High School her new home. Under her leadership, the club has performed the classic, Steel Magnolias for their 2020 Fall show. Their Spring 2022 performance of The Spongebob Musical cemented this program’s place as our club with the most growth.
