Canoe Creek Spotlight

Ashville has long wanted its own community theater group, and with the help of city leaders put together a group of people committed to making that dream a reality. The Spotlight Canoe Creek Players’ first production, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, was well-attended and left the community wanting more.

In the spring of 2018, the Players worked with Spotlight to arrange, rehearse, and perform a full weekend run of Southern Fried Funeral, a hilarious Southern comedy. In 2019, they brought Southern Fried Nuptials to the stage, the sequel to Southern Fried Funeral. These shows, performed at CEPA, brought in audience members from around the county and has cemented The Spotlight Canoe Creek Players as a fixture in St. Clair County’s arts community.

The club currently has 23 members and is led by Chris Cash, a passionate director who shares Spotlight’s desire to bring theater to the area. They plan to produce another show to be performed at CEPA, which may very well be a musical.  Stay tuned to learn more.
