CEPA’s Community Homecoming arrives twice annually featuring a tailgate lunch and harmonious gospel tunes.
The Old Time Gospel Hour features fun and fellowship in the lobby and theater of the Center for Education and Performing Arts. The event supports Positive Lights, Positive Lives, a nonprofit organization working to improve quality of life in St. Clair County.
“This event is designed to bring our community together,” organizer Teresa Carden said. “We are asking our churches to take the lead. It’s a great opportunity to share Christ and the programs in your church.”
The day begins at 12:30 p.m., where catering will be provided to ticket holders (one lunch per ticket).
At 1:30 p.m., the audience will head into the theater for a special singing. Carden said the event will be in a style many will find familiar – the “Gaither Homecoming” led by a local vocalist and accompanied by local musicians. Be ready for some audience participation as well!
Performers include:
- The Old Time Gospel Choir
- whitney Junction
- Pastor Haynes & The Voices of Praise
- Joyful Noise
- The Believers
Sponsorships and tickets are available now. Individual churches, businesses or individuals can sponsor the Old Time Gospel Hour for $250, which provides tickets and four parking spots in front of the building to tailgate with attendees for lunch. This is a great opportunity to share literature and fellowship.
Sponsors will also be recognized on promotional material.
Carden said the event is designed to be a community gathering and not necessarily a fundraiser, however any proceeds will support Positive Lights, Positive Lives. This initiative seeks to engage the community to build a stronger, more desirable place to live work and play.
Carden said she intends to return the event to CEPA annually or semi-annually. For more information about the event or sponsoring, contact her at (205) 405-0603 or email [email protected].
