Meet Moody Spotlight
The Moody High School Spotlight Drama Club was founded in 2016 by a handful of dedicated students who approached Mr. Jonathan Hood, chemistry teacher and avid singer, about starting up a drama club.
2019’s student-directed production of The Wizard of Oz, which performed in February, saw a huge increase in the number of students auditioning. More than 50 students are now involved in the Spotlight Drama Club at MHS working in performance roles and learning the technical aspects within the theatre such as costume design, set design, lighting design, and stage management.
In 2020, Moody Spotlight gained a new Sponsor, Lara Meeks, who has taught English and Theatre at Gardendale and Hewitt-Trussville, before making Moody High School her new home. With that, the members performed the classic, Steel Magnolias for their 2020 show. They performed The Great Gatsby in October of 2021.They are excited to continue with Spotlight and will be performing in the Spring. Be sure to mark your calendars this May as Moody High School Spotlight presents, The Spongebob Musical.
